After we studied about Christopher Columbus, we wrote letters to thank him.
We had fun creating an old looking document by painting our page with tea to stain the paper.
Next we wrote on the page things we were glad he brought back from the New World like chocolate, tomatoes, wheat and other plants.
Some students thanked him for being so brave and sailing across the ocean.
We honored Columbus for all he did to bring attention to the New World.
Thank you Columbus!
You didn't find the Indies, but you discovered lots of other things.
We are glad we got to learn more about Columbus. We also learned that he was the first to see the natives smoking tobacco. He brought the tobacco plant back to Europe. Then lots of people stared smoking, which wasn't such a good thing. Now we all know that smoking is bad for you.
