Making Dona Flora/A Tall Tale

We read a Tall Tale about a very big woman named Dona Flora. So we decided to create our own Dona Flora.

It took big paper and imagination.

Pretty soon we had some good ideas going.

Even two boys working together could make a Dona Flora.

It took a whole lot of cutting.

It took a whole lot of coloring too.

Then each one started to look like a Dona Flora.

Good job here making a small person into a big person.

You have to hold still so your image can be traced on the paper.

Here is a beautiful Dona Flora.

Here is another great looking Dona Flora. "She woke up the village every morning when she patted her hands together to make tortillias."

Look at this gorgeous Dona Flora. "She plucked a star from the sky to light up her house."

Good job on this Dona Flora. "She was fighting with the wind and she smacked the sun and gave him a black eye."

Dona Flora you are so fun to make!

Dona Flora you wear very colorful clothes. "She scooped out handfuls of dirt to make her house and it made a canyon."

Of course she would have a beautiful purple skirt, "She liked to make tortillias for the village every morning and the left overs would be used as rafts."

Another beautiful Dona Flora. "She took her thumb and carved out a river for the village."

Thanks for a great time Dona Flora. We will always remember you!
