Mrs. Abraham Goes to St. Louis, Missouri

Here I am standing by the mural that explains about the builders of the Gateway Arch.
This is an old fashioned paddleboat that was used many years agon as a way to travel on the Mississippi River.
The Gateway Arch was built to remember Lewis and Clark who left from this area to explore the west in 1804.
As a tourist I was able to go up inside the arch and look down on the Mississippi River. It is 750 feet above the ground.
On the close side of the Mississippi River is the state of Missouri and across the bridge is the state of Illinois. The Mississippi River is a border for both states.
I didn't climb to the top of the arch thank goodness, but instead a rode a tram that goes up one side, and down the other side. Here I am at the top of the arch where you can look out the windows.
From the top of the arch, this is the view of St. Louis, Missouri. That red stadium is where the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball. Their team beat the Texas Rangers last year in the World's Series.
When you stand under the arch and look up this is what you see. Going to St. Louis was a wonderful adventure for my husband and myself. I enjoyed learning about how to construct an arch,  understanding more about the travels of Lewis and Clark and viewing the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri River.
